Lace front wigs are the kind of wigs that look like they are growing from your scalp allowing you to part the hair. In case you are wondering how to make your wig look natural, we can give you some quick and easy tips to help you along the way. Here are some general tips we want to share with anyone who is trying to learn how to make your lace front wig look natural.
1.A common mistake that people make is that they place the wig too far up on their head which shrinks their forehead and makes it look unnatural. So first, you should place the wig near your natural hairline.
2.We all have baby hair around the edges and shorter hairs in the front that fades into your longer hair. The main concern about lace front wigs is that often times the hair line looks very square. To make your wig look more natural, baby hairs are the things you want to re-create on the wig.
3.After you thin out the hairline you will still notice that the hairline has a very square look. So once again you want to imitate your hairline and use tweezers to pluck the straightness from the edges, thus mimicking a more natural hairline.
Tips about how to deal with the baby hair:
1.Some wigs come with baby hair. If not, you can make your own by razoring the hair in the front to make them shorter.
2.Combing a small amount of your own hair or edges forward and then putting on the wig can help your wig look more realistic. Make sure to blend the edges and the wig.
3.Some elements in a wig may look really fake by being too narrow. Some wigs, for some reason, have a very short part. To make your part look more realistic, use tweezers to pluck around the part to widen it.
As you can see, baby hair is the key to the natural hairline and natural look. That's why lace front wigs with baby hair are so hot now. It makes it easier for a wig to look real. Today, let’s talk about a problem that women who ever wear wigs usually meet. When you buy yourself a wig and the joke is the wig is too big for you. You might start trying to fix it, but the result could not be perfect - the cap is still big or too tight.
Here are two simple but pretty good ways you would love to try!
Apply Elastic Band Method
You can still achieve a realistic hairline by applying the elastic band method.
Before you decide to using elastic band method, here is the list of tools that you will use:
1.The elastic band (extra thick)
3.Needle and thread
Then, you can measure distance between your left and right ears. Cut the elastic band base on your head measurement. Here’s an example:
Remember to leave your snug fit, so you can use the distance minus the snug fit to get your length of elastic.
Next, you can place your new elastic band and make sure put it goes along the curve of the wig cap. Then using the needle and thread to sew the elastic band in. Sew the edges of the band to each side of your lace closure, don’t forget to make knots by using the thread to secure the elastic band.
Needle and thread Method
If you don’t have elastic band, you can use your needle and thread to tighten your cap.
You are still going to use the same tool package as elastic band method, but in this method, using c needle would be better.
First, you will find a spot that behind your left ear on your wig cap, sew it on and secure the one side at the spot. You can go secure each spot by sew the thread in twice to make it very security. Following the same step to sew the all the way around the edge of the cap till you get to the other side of a spot which should behind your right ear on the cap. Remember do not cut the thread off yet after you finish your last stitch. You will pull the thread to tighten your wig, you will kind of get it stretched all the way around. At this point, you could put your wig on to fix the tightness of the cap. Once you get your suitable tightness, you could take off the wig and secure the knot to finish the last stitch. That’s it! You’ve done your job!
